Course Overview

• Who is this for?: Engineering and other vocational trainers and assessors wanting to obtain a recognised teaching qualification and/or progress to teaching and training in further education or within a training provider.
• Purpose: It prepares you for a career in further education, adult learning, or vocational training.
• Progression: Completing this course can help you apply for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status and progress into roles as a teacher/trainer/instructor in further education or within a training provider. 
• Study Time: Part time evening delivery, 1 day per week. 360 guided learning hours, split between guided study and self-directed work over 1 to 2 years + self study time.

Requirements

• Entry: Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (such as GCSE grade 4/C or equivalent), plus a minimum Level 3 qualification in the specialist subject area you plan to teach.

• Placement: You must have access to a teaching placement and complete a minimum of 250 placement hours, with at least 150 hours of actual teaching practice.

• Observations: You must complete 10 formal teaching observations of at least 45 minutes each over the course of the programme.

• 3 hours per week delivered on an evening plus observations booked in with your course tutor
